Making De_View (WIP Counter-Strike 2 Map)


This is my 2nd Counter-Strike Map, using learnings from a previous map, I wanted to make a much more competitive-focused map.

Project Overview


Landmarks

Landmarks are critical components of a level. They not only help orient the player, but also help guide them to key areas, in this case, it would be a bomb site.

Angles

In Counter-Strike 2, time to kill is super low, therefore any mistake in angles can lead to a frustrating player experience.

Timing

At the beginning of each round, the attacking and defending team rush to key areas of the map. Ensuring that each team gets to where they want without any outstanding advantage is critical.

Landmarks

I used a crane to create a visual landmark that helps indicate to the player where both bomb-sites are, the base of the crane being closer to A-Site and the end of it being closer to B-Site.

Angles

By creating interesting angles, it not only dictates how fights feel but also where they take place.

Timing

Here we see two sides both arriving to the same bomb-site as fast as they can, critically the defender arrives first and attackers have to use utility to flush the defender out of position.
